Eastern Polk County Development
Iowa Department of Economic Development
The City of Pleasant Hill is located immediately east of the City of Des Moines. The community is one of the fastest growing cities in Iowa with a 2005 population of 7,000. The city is intersected by two major highways, those being U.S. Highway 163 running east and west and the Highway 65 bypass which connects Interstates 80 and 35.

Pleasant Hill is only 15 minutes from Des Moines International Airport, 10 minutes from Downtown Des Moines, and 15 minutes from the Ankeny Regional Airport. The community has a full range of residential subdivisions ranging from very "high end" to moderate priced homes. There are currently over 300 acres of land available for commercial and industrial development with infrastructure in place.

While eastern Polk County is notable for its access to transportation facilities, it is equally known for the recreational and entertainment opportunities it offers.  Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino and Adventureland Amusement Park are the most prominent.  However, White Water University in Pleasant Hill offers full aquatic activities, a "go-cart" track, and a "putt-putt golf course"
